Why We Started Script Limited — and the Problems We Built It to Solve

For eleven years, I worked in the financial and administrative heart of a company with strong international ties, moving between customs, purchasing, marketing operations and retail and wholesale tracking. This kind of role teaches you things that no accounting textbook does, such as where things actually get stuck when a business has one foot abroad and one foot in Turkey.

It's rarely the big things. It's a customs form filed a day late because no one highlighted the deadline. It's a payroll registration that technically complies with the law, but ignores a detail specific to foreign shareholders. It's an incentive programme — TEKMER, Teknokent — that a company was fully eligible for but never applied to because their accountant was managing bookkeeping, not opportunities.

I witnessed this happening year after year, on a large scale. I noticed a pattern: most companies with foreign partners operating in Turkey have one of two options. They either hire a full accounting team too early, before they have the volume of work to justify it, or they hire a generalist local accountant who can file taxes correctly but has never had to consider the specific challenges of running operations across a border. Or they hire a local generalist accountant who can file taxes correctly, but who has never had to consider the specific challenges of running operations across a border, such as the time lag between a decision made at headquarters and its execution on the ground in Turkey.

Script Limited was founded in 2021 to address this issue. Rather than providing a bookkeeping service, we act as the coordination layer that many of these companies were missing — someone who understands both the compliance details and the operational reality within which they exist.

In practice, this means a few concrete things for the companies we work with.

Cross-border compliance that is proactive. SGK registrations, tax filings and reporting obligations are tracked proactively rather than reconstructed after a deadline has been missed.

There is a single point of coordination. When your team is abroad and your operation is in Turkey, someone needs to facilitate that conversation. We take on that role — ensuring that decisions made at headquarters are correctly implemented on the ground.

We help you to identify incentives that you would otherwise miss. We don't just pay lip service to TEKMER and Teknokent structuring — we actively seek it out because it's exactly the kind of opportunity that falls through the cracks when compliance and strategy are handled by different people, or not at all.

We grow with you. There's no need to choose between an expensive internal hire and a generalist who doesn't understand your situation. We work as a flexible partner, providing everything from preliminary accounting to full staff training, and we grow with your structure instead of forcing you into ours.

If any of this sounds familiar — if you're running a Turkish operation from abroad and the coordination feels more difficult than it should — we can help. Get in touch and let's talk about where the gaps are.
